ISU World Cup Speed Skating Series


Following the decision of the ISU Council, the ISU is pleased to announce the dates and locations for the ISU World Cup Speed Skating Series 2020/21 and 2021/22.

With a heavy heart, and still looking for words to describe our loss, we regret to inform you that Yuliya Baitursynova, the Secretary of the Skating Federation of Kazakhstan, passed away on 26 February 2020. She suffered from a heart failure, having been fighting a serious medical condition for some time. She passed away at her home in Almaty.

Kazakh Figure Skater Denis Ten dies at the age of 25


It is with profound regret and sorrow that the ISU learnt of the passing of Kazakh Figure Skater Denis Ten.

“This is truly shocking news,” commented the ISU President Mr. Jan Dijkema “Denis Ten was a very talented skater and a true ambassador for Figure Skating. He inspired many children and adults around the world. I send my sincerest sympathies to Denis’ family and friends in this difficult and tragic moment.”

ISU Junior World Cup Winner


The ISU Junior World Cup Speed Skating 2012/13 series came to an end last weekend in Collalbo (ITA) where the Junior World Cup Final took place. The series kicked off in November, in Calgary (CAN) for the North American skaters and in Minsk (BLR) for Europe. The Junior Asian skaters competed in December in Changchun (CHN). The Japanese skaters chose to skate in Calgary which turned out to be a very successful event for them. Other Regional World Cups were held for Europe on January 12-13 in Baselga di Pine (ITA), and for North America on January 19-20 in Roseville (USA). The Asian competition in Astana (KAZ) was cancelled. During the Regional Competitions skaters could win half the points than during the Global Event which was the December Junior World Cup in
 Inzell (GER). At the Final, which took place in Collalbo (ITA) last weekend, skaters could win three times the Regional Competitions points.
