Speed Skating Championship of Kazakhstan is completed in Astana


"Alau" Ice Palace hosted the first Speed Skating Championship in combined events...which still has no name. Speed skating includes sprint and classic combined events, as well as mini-combined events, small, female combined events. However, the combination of 500, 1000, 1500 and 5000 meters distances has not yet gained the official name. Medium distance masters attraction for starts, new format testing - these were the tasks set for the championship of Kazakhstan.

Speed skaters of Kazakhstan have national championships in combined events at the end of the season. It happened so that the best long-distance runner, Dmitriy Babenko, completed the season prematurely. Intrigue was persisted until the last race. Everything was decided in the final quartets at 3 000 meters distance in women and 5 000 meters in men.

By the sum of the four distances in combined events, the winner among women was Yelena Urvantseva (Petropavlovsk). The 2nd place was taken by Mariya Sizova from Khromtau. The 3rd place was won by Alyona Stapstova from Karaganda.

The championship was won by Maxim Baklashkin (Almaty) among men; the 2nd place was taken by the capitals athlete, Dmitriy Morozov, the third place was given to Karaganda resident, Stanislav Palkin.

Tomorrow "Alau" Ice Palace will host the fourth professional Alau Ice Marathon, which will close the official starts program of 2014-2015 season.
